Anurag Singh

In October 2003 Nottinghamshire signed Anurag Singh, the Worcestershire batsman on a three year contract. He was rather unfortunate in 2004 in that Bicknell, Gallian, Pietersen and Hussey were both successful and injury-free so no real opportunities came for a new batsman in the First Team.

It was not until late in the summer that he took the place of Russell Warren both in the Championship and Sunday League. Singh averaged over 40 in both class of matches. The arrival of Fleming in 2005 made batting vacancies even rarer; again there were no major batting injuries, though he did play in the Sunday League matches, but failed to hit an individual fifty.

In 2006 his outings with the First Eleven were even more restricted, playing in only six One-Dayers before he suffered a serious shoulder injury which ultimately cut short his playing career.
