Henry Flear, christened in Nottingham on 21 January 1818, played in local cricket - primarily for the Rancliffe Arms Club - from 1835 to 1846.  Rated as a capable batsman, his top score was 47 for the Players v Gentlemen at Trent Bridge in 1844, this being a county version of the noted national fixture.

Flear also represented the Old Club v XXII of New Forest and Bingham in 1836 but he played just one First-Class game - Nottinghamshire in 1843, v Sussex at Trent Bridge, when he was preferred to George Jarvis.  He batted once making 9no, did not bowl and took no catches in an innings victory and was not called upon again by the County.

A foundry moulder by trade he resided in George St, Sneinton, and died of ‘softening of the brain’ in the General Hospital on 16 April 1852 aged 35.
