James Gordon Rotherham Hayward

James Hayward made his sole Nottinghamshire first-class appearance in May 1951 against Oxford University in The Parks. He opened the bowling and finished with figures of 2 for 78 but did not bat. He appeared the following season for Notts Seconds.

A left-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler, he was born in Speeton, Yorkshire on New Year’s Eve in 1926. After residing in Worcestershire for many years he died on 29th September 2014 aged 87 years.
