Kyle Hogg came to Trent Bridge on ‘loan’ from Lancashire in 2007and played in two Championship matches and three Sunday League games.
Born in Birmingham on July 2, 1983, the grandson of the famous West Indian spinner, Sonny Ramadhin, Hogg made his county debut for Lancashire in 2001 as a right arm fast-medium bowler and useful left-hand bat.
As he was also loaned out to Worcestershire in 2007, he became the first County cricketer to represent three first-class counties in a season since Southerton in the 1860s (Southerton was, at 49, England’s oldest Test debutant). Remarkably, after more than a century-and-a-half gap, the feat was repeated the following season by AJ Harris!
Between 2000 and 2002, Hogg represented the England under-19s in six youth Tests and 11 One Day Internationals (ODIs). In the 2006–07 season he travelled to New Zealand where he represented Otago as an overseas player.
A back injury forced Hogg to retire in September 2014 at the age of 31.
