Nicky Boje

Nicky Boje, born in Bloemfontein on March 20, 1973, is a left hand bat and left arm spin bowler. He played for Orange Free State and made his South African One Day International debut in 1995/96, but his Test debut didn’t come until 1999/00.

Like Klusener he came to England with the South African 1999 World Cup squad, but only played in two games. He had previously toured England with South Africa ‘A’ in 1996.

In his nine Championship games for Notts last summer he took 27 wickets at 24.85, but perhaps the interesting statistic is that he was the only Notts bowler last year to concede less than three runs per over.

His batting produced 409 runs at 29.21. His final appearance for Notts v Glamorgan at Rhos was his best match, when he took six for 128 in the only innings and hit 101 runs.

His nine wickets in the crunch game against Derby in July went a long way towards winning that match.
