Oliver James Newby

The present first class counties regulations permit a county to borrow a player from another county for a limited period, even though that player may have represented his principal county in the season in question.

Under these rules, Lancashire, agreed to loan Oliver Newby to Nottinghamshire in 2005. He played for Notts in two Championship matches, v Kent at Trent Bridge and v Gloucester at Bristol and also for Notts Seconds.

Born in Blackburn on 26 August 1984 he is a right hand batsmen and right arm medium fast bowler. Educated at Ribblesdale High School, Newby made his debut for Lancashire Seconds in 2001 and his first-class debut in 2003. In 2004 he played in one Championship game for Lancashire.
